Vacayion Day 9: Cliffs of Moher

Today I witnessed one of the most amazing things I have ever seen...I was absolutely stunned, and quite literally almost blown away. We booked a tour to the Cliffs of Moher, one of the better-known places to visit in Ireland, and I am soooo happy we went. There isn't much to say, really, you just have to look at the photos, but those don't do it an ounce of justice.

The tour left in the morning, unfortunately it was raining. We drove through the beautiful Irish countryside, and at one point stopped to do a little hike in the area. It was wither pay 6 euros and do that, or sit in the bus for two hours.

Our little hike tour:

They gave us sexy sexy rain gear.

Umm...perfect much?

This is a faerie tree. You're supposed to tie something, anything, on it, that represents your troubles. It's bad luck to cut them down. According to the guide some people still believe this.

There were credit cards, hair things, ear buds...

PER-FECT

GOAT!!!

This seems more like a French attitude than an Irish one...

Poulnabrone Portal Tombe, dating between 4200 BC and 2900 BC.  At this point, it was wet and freezing cold, we literally hopped out of the bus, took a photo, and ran back in. It was miserable.

And then we went to the Cliffs. The wind was so ridiculously strong it was rocking the bus back and forth. The driver had to pull around a corner to let us off because the doors would have been blown off otherwise. People were falling over, we were pelted with rocks, at one point I was almost blown over, I had to run with the wind and I couldn't stop. But to be honest, it made it so much more fun (having to hold on for dear life not to be blown into the Atlantic...yeah, fun).

There was a little pug dog there, Nathalie and I were sure he was going to get blown into the ocean.

"It's a good thing I ate so much cake, I won't get blown away"

Me to Nathalie: "THIS IS WHY YOUR PEOPLE LEFT!"

On our way back we made a stop at the Dunguaire Castle.

It was a fantastic last day in Ireland. Afterwords the two of us bought some Indian food and heated it up in the apartment and ate it in front of the TV.

It's been a couple days since I've seen the Cliffs and written this post and I'm still amazed. Ireland: your food is absolutely atrocious (seriously, even the sliced Turkey made me gag. Your soda bread is good though, I'll give you that), and the weather is...eh, but your nature is fabulous.
